Addick was founded in Stockholm during the summer of 2013 by the owner Daniel Addick Olsson with the aim to offer high end colorful and fashionable accessories for the modern Scandinavian man and woman. Its first collection was launched online and at selected retailers in July 2014 under the concept of “Stop bugging”.

Influenced by the vision to draw attention to endangered bugs which hence were used for all prints and communication. The brand launches annual collections inspired by unique themes which are presented by eye-catching yet fashionable prints and colors.

The current product range contains self tied bow ties, ties, handkerchieves, scarfs, cufflinks and pins. But its portfolio will increase soon: the first jewelry products will be launched in the upcoming season SS 2015.

Today Addick works exclusively with high quality silk, cashmere blends and plated steel.

Where has the brand name ADDICK been derived from? / Why is the brand called ADDICK?

The brand Addick is one of the founder’s first names which he was given in remembrance of his great uncle Addick.

Addick was born in 1888 in the small beautiful island Balgö outside Varberg located on the West coast of Sweden. He made a living from fishing but felt early on that he wanted to break free from this hard life and go and find happiness elsewhere. That is why he took the ship from the port of Gothenburg in 1910, only 22 years old and sailed across the Atlantic  to New York. There he spent the next three years but felt increasingly at unease again – the hectic city life was too stereotypical and busy.

Feeling even more ambivalent,Addick again decided to go his own way. He moved to the small fishing village of Wrangell, Alaska where he settled down, enjoyed his everyday life and became a successful fisherman.

Addick was very politically active and fought for equal rights. Race, color and sexual orientation didn’t matter for him. He stood up for everyone’s right to vote, which led to his imprisonment at the age of 44.

He died in prison after 11 years due to several internal fights with other white prisoners who got upset of his controversial opinions and his love for everyone. Addick died single and without any children.

AK is an abbreviation for the state of Alaska and also the first and last letter in the name and trademark ADDICK – which is why AK naturally became Addick’s logo.
